This particular mask I named "Midnight Queen" because when I have finished it the overall impression was a sort of a golden royal splendour coming out of the darkness.

The inspiration for this piece of 3D wall art came from a photo safari in Africa during which we visited a Zulu village where we were greeted with their traditional dance. The chief's daughter wore a striking shimmering face decoration in sharp contrast with warm earth tone of Africa. Hence naturally I dubbed this piece African Princess.

An exceptionally strong contrast between the shimmering gold and rubies on a dark background evokes the splendour and luxury as well as the night secrets of European courts. Private dances by mysterious women at late hours, performed on special occasions, must have left the audience in awe watching the subtle play of choreography and glittering of gold and rubies in the darkness. This image of occasional flashing in darkness, like in some slow Pavane-like thunder storm, inspired me to create one of the most demanding pieces of 3D wall art I have ever made.

While Renaissance was at its peak in Europe, on the other side of the world, in what is today Mexico ruled the last Aztec empress, Isabel Moctezuma. The Aztec art and craftmanship very often included ornaments made of gold, precious and semy-precious stones and elaborate featherwork. The most distinctive colors frequently used, apart from golden one, were emerald green and ultramarin hue of lapis lazuli. This, in contrast with rather dark Aztec religion was the inspiration for "Aztec empress".

A trip to Moscow many years ago was absolutely fascinating and inspiring. When I started to work on this composition I realised that it would depict the splendour that overwhelmed me at the time. I am specially refering to one of the world's most beautiful headddress-the kokoshnik, the traditional female Russian headdress which has been in existence for a millennium now.

I had this vision once... Sailing up the Amazon in 2012 I had a rare opportunity to see a jaguar crouching at the edge of the jungle, drilling us with its firing eyes. For a moment I thought I saw an apparition of a native female warrior all covered in gold. This episode resulted in creating this golden female face surrounded by subtle jaguar-like prints.

The cold glow of icicles and pearls brings to mind fairytales from freezing north. As a child I imagined a beautiful yet ice-cold queen who ruled magical kingdoms of artic wilderness. Haunted by that image even in the present I've decided to give it a tangible, ever-lasting form. Thus this came to being.

Golden splendour of the grandeur of Vienna court with its pomp of elegant dresses, rich jewelry and glamorous, pearl-decorated hairstyles in frivolous dance to Mozart's piano pieces, all these I tried to capture in this composition. Like the shine of majestic glamour during evening courtyard balls.

Since early childhood, myths and legends have been tickling my imagination, especially the ones of Atlantis and The Seven Cities of Cibola. The former being lost in the depths of the ocean and the latter buried under the sands of some nameless desert. I have always wondered if there a connection between the two and what deities were worshiped. Somehow I deem it to be a symbiotic divine being that incorporates the main images of both – seven pieces, six of which are the fans resembling flaring gill-covers and the seventh one, being the central part, representing the mysterious face of the sand godess. As for colours, I chose a golden-silverish hue to unite the colors of cold marble palaces of Atlantis and the gold of The Seven Cities, to convey the unity of the opposites.

I have created this one inspired by the symbolic implications of pink color and its manifestations in nature. A pink rose represents the refinement of elegant femininity as well as grace and happiness. Pink is also the color of new love and new relationships. Pink calms and reassures emotional energy. The semi-precious stone pink quartz is said to bring soothing filings and peacefulness, hence creating the perfect ground for meditation. To paraphrase the lyrics of the famous song: "Amazing grace, how sweet the color"
